This poster project explores the life and legacy of Jimmy Buffett through expressive typography. By using type as the primary visual element, I highlighted key moments, themes, and milestones in his career, translating his music and persona into a dynamic, visually engaging design. The project allowed me to experiment with hierarchy, scale, and layout, demonstrating how typography alone can tell a story and capture the essence of a cultural icon.
This stencil printmaking series draws inspiration from the laid-back escapism and playful storytelling of Jimmy Buffett’s songs Cheeseburger in Paradise, It’s 5 O’Clock Somewhere, and Margaritaville, translating their iconic imagery into bold, layered compositions through the stencil printing process. Each print captures the carefree spirit of Buffett’s tropical world through vibrant color, simplified forms, and rhythmic repetition, while a recurring pickle motif creates visual consistency and acts as a unifying symbol woven throughout the series. Serving as both a whimsical signature element and conceptual thread, the pickle connects each piece while reinforcing themes of indulgence, nostalgia, and lighthearted paradise. Through repetition, texture, and handcrafted layering, the series celebrates both the playful essence of Buffett’s music and the expressive possibilities of printmaking.
This lithography printmaking series explores the visual and symbolic qualities of sardines through richly textured compositions that highlight repetition, movement, and intricate mark-making unique to the lithographic process. Inspired by the sardine as both a cultural icon and everyday subject, the series transforms ordinary imagery into dynamic prints that play with pattern, contrast, and fluid linework. Through layered textures and expressive drawing, each piece examines themes of abundance, preservation, and connection, while the repeated sardine motif creates cohesion across the series and reinforces a strong visual rhythm. Emphasizing the tactile and gestural qualities of lithography, the work celebrates both the medium’s expressive depth and the unexpected beauty found in a humble subject.
