During the summer of 2026, I had the opportunity to work as a Design Intern at Midstory ThinkHub, where I contributed to a variety of digital storytelling projects. I created cover graphics and social media carousels to visually communicate the stories being shared, along with editing videos to help bring those stories to life. Through this experience, I was able to explore how graphic design and multimedia can work together to engage audiences and share meaningful stories. This internship allowed me to strengthen my skills in visual storytelling, digital design, and video editing while collaborating with a team dedicated to highlighting the history, culture, and stories of the Midwest.
For this project, I created a cover graphic and social media carousel for Midstory’s article, “In America’s Breadbasket, Insect Depopulation Threatens Crops.” Using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, I developed visuals to help communicate the article’s message and make the story engaging and accessible to audiences on social media. This project allowed me to combine visual storytelling and digital design to bring attention to an important environmental issue.
For this project, I created a cover graphic and social media carousel highlighting Toledo’s Walleye competition. I hand-drew the fish illustrations using Procreate and used Canva to incorporate background elements and additional assets into the designs. This project allowed me to combine hand-drawn illustrations with digital design to create engaging visuals that capture the excitement of the competition and connect with Midstory’s audience.
For this project, I created a social media carousel for Midstory, combining hand-drawn illustrations with my own photography to bring the story to life. I used Procreate to draw the pattern elements in the background and incorporated personal photos I had taken as additional visual elements throughout the design. This project allowed me to experiment with illustration, photography, and layout to create a cohesive and engaging visual story for social media.
For this project, I created a cover graphic and social media carousel for a Midstory story highlighting Antioch schools in the Dayton, Ohio area. I used my own photography to create the school supply elements throughout the designs and utilized Canva’s editing effects to enhance the images and bring the visuals together. This project allowed me to experiment with photography and digital editing to create engaging graphics that support the story and capture the audience’s attention.
For this project, I created a cover graphic and social media carousel for Midstory’s article, “Pillsbury, Betty Crocker, and Minneapolis’ Flour Milling Empire.” I researched the time period to find historically relevant visual assets that would accurately reflect the story’s subject and history. I also hand-drew a sourdough scoring pattern to use as a background element throughout the designs, adding a personal, illustrative touch to the overall visuals. This project allowed me to combine historical research, illustration, and digital design to create engaging graphics that bring the story to life for social media.
